GRESHAM CLARETI EDT VERSION 8.0 STREAMLINES TAPE OPERATIONS FOR IBM TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER AND SUN SOLARIS X86
Integrates Advanced Control Center Features for Single-Point Management of Heterogeneous Tape Library Resources
AUSTIN, Texas, March 28, 2007 – Gresham Enterprise Storage, the leading developer of data protection solutions with vision, today announced the release of Gresham Clareti® Enterprise DistribuTape (EDT) Version 8.0. This latest version combines advanced resource management and network visibility features with an integrated Control Center application that provides single-point management for all IBM Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) and Sun tape library resources. Gresham also has added support for Sun Microsystems Solaris x86 platform to Clareti EDT
“For the past 10 years, Gresham Clareti EDT has been helping TSM users optimize their tape storage resources and simplify management of their backup operations. With more than 4,300 licenses sold to date across hundreds of the largest, most active data centers in the world, EDT is a core product that we will continue to enhance,” said Keith Summers, Managing Director of Gresham Enterprise Storage
Clareti EDT Control Center
Accessible from anywhere on a local or wide area network, the Gresham EDT Control Center console simplifies scheduling, tuning, and monitoring of entire backup operations by providing a single management point to monitor and control all instances of Clareti EDT. It enables administrators to manage resources remotely and quickly enhance operations on the fly. It also includes comprehensive reporting features.
With Control Center integrated into Clareti EDT, administrators can now:
Monitor EDT and Automatic Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS)-related operations from one desktop
Conduct bulk imports/exports from the Media Management console
View synched ACSLS and TSM media logs for diagnostics
Save time with point-and-click scheduling that eliminates the need to write or manage scripts
Minimize time-consuming configuration tasks
Improve operational efficiencies based on reports on utilization, mount wait time, mount count, average mount failures per library, average in-use time per device, mount failures, and more
"Storage administrators are under enormous pressure to store more data longer, meet recovery time objectives and safeguard their digital assets," said Robert Amatruda, Research Director, IDC. "Solutions such as Gresham's Clareti EDT address customers’ needs to efficiently and effectively automate, manage, and monitor their data during backup operations."
Solaris x86 Support
Although earlier versions of Clareti EDT supported Solaris and other popular versions of Unix, Linux, and Windows, in version 8.0 Gresham has added native support for the Solaris x86 platform. “We’ve added support for Solaris x86 based on direct customer feedback telling us that they wanted streamlined support of mixed environments that include TSM and Sun tape libraries,” Summers said. Support for Solaris x86 makes Clareti EDT available to the growing number of Solaris users on the Intel platform.
